Code of Conduct

SHIFT is an inclusive, positive community of Creators focused on the creation and cultivation of personal projects.

We strive to maintain this culture by ensuring that all members of the SHIFT community:

  1. Support one another intellectually by asking appropriate questions, iterating on ideas, and sharing resources and opportunities.
  2. Respect one another as members of our community by refraining from using offensive language and engaging in destructive behavior.

Therefore, we have a zero tolerance policy for harassment. This includes, but is not limited to: offensive verbal or written comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, class, ability, appearance, race, religion, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

If you witness or are subject to any behavior of this kind at SHIFT or during any SHIFT events, please contact a member of the Leadership Team. We will thoroughly look into any activity that violates this Code of Conduct and work to ensure all members of our community feel safe.

Building a Supportive Intellectual Atmosphere

SHIFT is a space where all creators should feel comfortable sharing their ideas in any stage of their journey. Some will have fully formed plans of execution, and are ready to fearlessly defend their ideas against any pitfall or argument. Others have just as much fire and passion, but may not have their ideas as structured yet, and negative, unconstructive criticism can be a major dampener on a budding idea. Consider the following tips in providing constructive feedback:

Be conscious of how your actions, language, and presence at SHIFT affect those around you. Because we’re all of different backgrounds, experiences, styles, emotional reactivities, and preferences, it’s our job to maintain an inclusive community for all.
